‘Words of Wisdom’ (2005)

A collection of ‘life advice’ contributed by anonymous participants and turned into instructional traffic signs, issuing orders, warnings, directions and information to passersby. Each sign was meticulously hand painted by the artist using the same design and colour palette as found in the Highway Code. The signs were covertly placed in urban environments, subverting the presence and language of existing official signage that we obey (or ignore!) as part of everyday life.
